Meet Chitra Mamidela - a talented Project Architect with BarlisWedlick Architects who is passionate about creating sustainable and resilient urban environments. With a understanding of the relationship between design, nature, and urban infrastructure, Chitra sees architecture as a bridge to connect the two and create a harmonious balance.
Chitra's expertise spans across architecture, building energy, research, and sustainability, with a focus on historical preservation and Passive House principles. She also brings experience from her time at the UN-Habitat where she worked on environmentally responsible and resource-efficient concepts for buildings, communities, and cities.
In addition to her professional work, Chitra is affiliated with the Building Energy Exchange and the Center for Active Design, two nonprofit organizations that promote energy conservation, efficiency, public health, wellness, and human experience in architecture and urban planning solutions. At CfAD, Chitra guides projects to comply with Fitwel standards, promoting occupant health and well-being.
As a firm believer in the power of community and collaboration, Chitra is also an active Board Director for the CCNY Architecture Alumni Group, contributing to professional development, social events, and communication initiatives. Her goal is to optimize indoor environments, encourage behavior change, and build trust among occupants to create a better future for all.
